Caen Locks

We loaded the bikes up onto Mollie Camper and set off for darkest Wiltshire. We had a most enjoyable day cycling 15km around the canal path and back lanes around Devizes, which may have included a smashing pub lunch too.

This shot is at Caen Locks; a flight of 29 locks lifting the Kennet and Avon canal some 237 feet over two miles - a 1 in 44 gradient. It takes most people all day to navigate a narrowboat through this flight. And that's when it's not even ridiculously hot.

My, it is ridiculously hot.
