River Derwent
A couple of weeks ago I got a card through the door from Royal Mail to say that the sender of a parcel to my address hadn't put the correct postage on and in order to get it delivered I had to pay a fee of £7. I wasn't expecting any parcels and I didn't really want to pay the £7 straight off as the parcel might just be something like a free sample of cat food or similar. So I asked a couple of friends whether they had sent it and they hadn't. So I was dithering whether to pay the £7. I mentioned it to Becky and she just said... PAY IT. So I did. Paid the fee online and got a message to say the parcel would be delivered on Saturday. It wasn't. And it didn't come today either. So I phoned Royal Mail. Was on hold for about 25 mins but finally spoke to someone. I quoted all the ref numbers I had and they had no trace of the parcel. A supervisor got involved and it was decided that even though I had paid the fee my local sorting office was not aware I had paid, This will be remedied and I should get the parcel tomorrow. Hopefully its not just a free sample.
I had my weekly leg ulcer appointment this afternoon at 4.20pm at Blaydon Primary Care. I left the house early and got a bus to Swalwell so I could get my blip shot first. I walked down to the River Derwent - the Mono Monday theme is 'Water ". Its always lovely down by the river. Its a route I took quite often to get to Neils house but since he moved I haven't been down there. It was very quiet there today - no-one else around. Thanks to JacZero for hosting.
The Care Centre has a dual purpose. Most of the building is taken up with different consulting rooms and waiting areas and the other part of it is a swimming pool and cafe. The " Care " part seemed deserted this afternoon but the swimming pool was busy.
I saw another different nurse this afternoon so of course she had to read through my notes before she could do anything. I mentioned to her that last week when I was seen in my local health centre the nurse and the GP both wondered if it was time to start using compression bandages.... and she agreed. She didn't think they would work better than the compression stocking I have already been wearing but she said it was worth a try. So she dressed the ulcer ( she said it no longer looked infected so the antibiotics must have worked ) and applied the bandages. Then she put a white silky ( wrinkly ) stocking on top. .... see Extra. All this was very bulky and I could hardly get my shoe back on.
Another bus ride to Lidl to stock up on fresh food. My fridge was empty after being away last week. Then another bus to the Metrocentre. Popped into Savers and got some of Tino's favourite cat food .. and some slimming friendly chocolate bars... a favourite of mine. Then another bus home.
I was ready to slump into my armchair with a cup of coffee when I got home.
Weather today was lovely again. Warm and dry ... and the sun came out later in the day. Leg was OK although it was really sore after the dressing change as usual. Its much less painful this evening. (update at 4am.........leg is very painful)
