Harlech
Summer holiday 2025 day 1-2
Maybe it's the sea air, maybe it's the late night, maybe it's sleeping on the floor, but Owen slept later than usual this morning. Once we were all up, coffee and breakfast were the order of the day, Owen deciding that he wanted toasted marshmallows* and s'mores for breakfast.
After a relaxed morning, we had a drive over to Harlech for a bit of a beach day under -what we thought was- cloud cover. It did brighten up after lunch and we had a great time building sandcastles, running up and down the sand dunes, and jumping the waves in the sea.
Harlech is famous for its huge castle and so, after the obligatory ice creams, we headed up there to have a look around and read about how, when it was first built, Owen would have been looking out onto the sea lapping at the rocks below this window. A good explore and a play in the playground left us hungry so we went to find some food.
There is a 'pub' a short walk from the campsite so we thought we'd check that out, rapidly changing our minds when we saw it. On the way there though we'd driven past The Victoria that looked nice so we went back that way and had really good pub grub before heading back again to enjoy a couple of beers by the campfire*.
