From Redcar to Murton
The Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough is unfortunately out of service for major maintenance. We had to take a detour, and Sustrans, responsible for the National Cycle Network, has done a great job of changing the route. You can now cycle all the way to Sunderland via various former railway lines. The various railway lines are connected by well-signposted, low-traffic roads.
It was all very beautiful, but we'd lost touch with the sea. We went as far as Murton, but tomorrow we'll cycle back to the sea, to Seaham, so we can look for some more shells and paddle in the water. Don't worry, I'll take pictures and leave the shells where they are.
