All good things must come to an end...
I am so behind with blipping but for good reason, been having too much fun with this pair. Anna and Faith are fun and joy personified. When they're not fighting with each other :-))
Today was their last day with us before heading back north. L & S got the last of the packing done and I went with the girls into the garden for our traditional last day of holiday photo shoot. My camera battery was almost out of power but I managed to get some shots that I know their mum and dad will love. They've both grown so much since the last time I photographed them under the Japanese maple.
While all this was happening D was cooking up a full Scottish breakfast for us all, which we all enjoyed.
They are returning to chaos as they moved to their new house the day before they came here. Newly build by S's brother and fully adapted to suit S's accessibility needs. So exciting but chaos non the less. I made up a bag of provisions for them to take away so at least they would have something to easy to eat when they got home. Soup, bread, chicken, ham, melon, orange juice, watermelon, my homemade Malteser slice and a tub of Haribo :-))
The goodbyes are always hard with Anna being particularly upset, so we kept a surprise for them till just as they were about to leave....the news that D and I will be staying with them in their new house on our way back from Harris and Lewis in September. They were very happy about that! :-) Faith had already asked earlier in the week when we were going to visit and we were very vague. She announced then that when we D visit will sleep in her top bunk! Hahahahaha...D trying to get into a top bunk. That would be a blip.
Faith has such a strong bond with D. I think it stems from her first visit as a tiny baby with horrendous colic and D walked the floor with her for hours. She always calmed for him. And he always gets extra cuddles when she says goodbye (see extra :-)
It took about half an hour for them to actually leave as the girls kept coming back for more cuddles! When I came back inside and saw the six placemats on the kitchen table I got a lump in my throat.
Quick tidy up then D and I headed to the local garden centre to get new plants for one of the planters at the front door as it's been a bit neglected this week and had dried out beyond repair. Got the last of the petunias and a couple of fuchsias and a load of herbs as I want to replant my herb garden.
While I planted up the tub, D cut back the dead flowers on the astrantia and the cat mint. I can't believe after almost 36 years of marriage I've finally turned him into a gardener. Proof in extras :-)
Easy dinner of pizza then a frustrating few hours trying to edit today's photos as my lap top is on a glow slow again. It's taken almost four hours to edit 6 photos. VERY frustrating. Will look into it properly another day but I expect I am about to get the dreaded scratch disks are full message!
Thankfully the rest of the photos from this week are on my phone so will hopefully get my journal up to date tomorrow.
Time for bed now in our very quiet house!
PS I do have a shot of them where I haven't chopped off Anna's feet but I preferred Faith's expression in this one :-)
