A grim day does not
encourage me to get out

I left a sunny day yesterday and woke up to a grey day this morning. At 6 the weather looked grey and dull. I had to work myself up to leaving the house before 7:30. But where to go in such uninspiring weather?
I decided to drive down to the area near McArthur Island Park. I parked along Royal Avenue and, to my surprise, discovered a new house. An old nursing home had been torn down some years ago, leaving 5 river view lots for sale. I'd considered building on one myself, but I wouldn't be able to see my mountains properly, so I abandoned the thought.
The new house takes up the far east lot with the Rivers Trail on two sides. It seems to sit up high so I assume there's no basement. There is very little yard and what's there is not private. There is a 3 foot fence along the Rivers Trail but it is gauge wire. I found the colour palette for the home rather "interesting".
I walked onto the Rivers Trail to see the view from the front of the house. I can look along the river to the west. Today, a warm wind is coming out of the west blowing up dust from Rabbit Island. To the east there are views of the city and the boat docks next door.
This portion of the Rivers Trail is well-used, especially by dog walkers. This morning I met a young man on a board zooming along with his dog running behind him. The walkway has been decorated with some political messages for the public.
Although it is necessary to have some urban renewal, I would not be attracted to this area now.
I'm home with my feet up. The house is so dark inside today that I need the lights on.
