Walk to Serneus

We decided on a local walk today and so after breakfast we set off to walk from the village down the Prattigau valley to Serneus. The route actually goes up alongside the mountain before descending down to the village of Serneus. Today there were so many butterflies, especially Silver Washed Fritillaries (see extra), at one point there were four all competing for the same flower!

We ate our packed lunch on a bench at a little picnic site outside the village. The picnic sites here are great, not only do they have BBQ facilities but they supply chopped wood and this one even had BBQ utensils hanging up on a rack. When we got back to Klosters we had iced lattes before going home.

This afternoon we had a booking to play 9 holes of golf again. After the first hole we noticed the clouds building up, and by the time we finished playing the second hole it started raining. You have to use golf buggies here as the course is too hilly and steep to walk around and buggies ensure that play is not held up. So when it started raining we sat in the golf buggy for a while thinking it would be a passing shower, but next thing there was a thunderstorm with lightning, thunder and lashing rain. Not great to be out on a golf course with lightening around so we quickly drove back to the club house (a bit of a generous term for a small building where you check in) where everyone was parked in the garage where they keep the buggies, to sit out the storm. In the mountains storms come up very quickly but then also clear very quickly. We all sat there for about 20 minutes and then the rain stopped, the sun came out again and we resumed our play.

Tonight we are meeting friends in the village for dinner, they are long standing friends who also live in the UK and who also holiday here.
