Gone Fishing..

En route home from my check-in with the doctor, I stopped in at our conservation area for a short walk around. There are always Canada Geese around and of course, ducks..but this time, and for the first time, I spied a heron out in the marsh...and he was fishing..successfully. I had not brought my good camera but I was still close enough to watch him locate and spear a wee fish, and then eat and swallow it!  Seeing a heron was a treat in itself, but one feeding? Bonus! 

For a weekday, there were quite a few folks taking advantage of the fabulous weather, strolling about with cameras, cycling, paddle boarding and kayaking. (extra) 

And back home, it was so nice to be able to sit on the deck for a change,  but it wasn't as much fun with the feeders down;  there was no animal life out there at all. No birds to watch, no squirrels or bunnies, and my lone chipmunk was nowhere to be found. And no rats..but I know that they are lurking out there somewhere ,waiting for the buffet to resume... But I decided to risk it and put those feeders back up..  fingers crossed.
