Frivolity is Fun
I know, I know...who buys a vase to match a quilt? Me....Frivolous me.
I was at the Thrift Shop and there it was - the perfect accompaniment to one of my favourite quilts...and it only cost $5.40 CDN How could I resist? oh and there was also this lovely white bowl....the perfect size for my lentil salad. It is now mine. I left the shop feeling totally guilt-free as I had taken more in than I was taking away; I was still ahead of the game.
My decluttering continues - in small bits..before morning coffee. I made a rule the I must do something productive (other than feed the cat) before coffee, as once I sit down with my coffee, it is hard to get going again. I go to my laptop with it and before I know it, the morning has disappeared. Taking a few moments to find something I don't need but that someone else might, gets my day off to a good start, and over time, I just might make some headway in my decluttering..
My last donation was knitting needles; today it was yarn. I have a closet - literally a whole closet - full of yarns. I chose some glittery ones.... and I had lots..and threw in an unfinished project I had started while visiting Rowan Yarns in the UK years ago. It was part of a yarn tour and we spent a day there taking workshops - one of which was knitting Union Jacks and hearts for a tote bag in celebration of Prince Charles's Campaign for Wool. Finding it hidden away in that closet brought back some wonderful memories, but I knew I would never finish it, so off it went in search of an avid knitter.
The news is not good from the bird feeders. The bully grackles are back in full force - a whole flock of them descended today on the newly filled feeders and when the finches or cardinals tried to partake, they chased them away....I watched one female cardinal try to stand up to a vicious grackle attacking her; she held her ground briefly but couldn't keep it up and flew away hungry. It irritates me so much, but what can I do? I switched a couple of feeders over to safflower, kept the nyjer seed intact, and left up only one with sunflower seeds; I may remove all sunflower seeds for a while to see if that helps. Would be great if the grackles get discouraged and find somewhere else to dine. Along with the rats..plural. Yes., they seem to multiply at an alarming rate. I can only hope.
