Everything changes

As we arrived into our usual dog friendly bothy at Inver we realised the view had subtly changed from previous visits, the little birch tree on the right out of our window had been blown over in a storm.  But if you look carefully a tiny tree is growing up.

It was a bit of a slog driving today as we’d forgotten to book onto the Oban ferry so it was the long way round via Lochaline.  Vik marshalled us up and out and so we were at least on the earlier ferry.   Arrived in Oban but it was drizzling and traffic jammed so we went on to Kilmartin, had a late (and not very good) lunch and then went round the museum and down to the bridge past the cairn.

Resolved next year to go on to Dunadd , *checks notes*  the centre of the Gaelic kingdom of Dál Riata from 500AD - 1000AD.  You drive past it as you head on to Inverary, it is essentially a huge rock rising out of the Valley floor.

Bands of meadowsweet and Rosebay Willow Herb swept past and then nearer the magnificent Loch Fyne banks of incredibly pretty (but bad, boo, invasive) Himalayan Balsam.

Arrived at Inver around 6, and everyone was delighted by it.  V had a nap and we met for drinks before eating from the set menu,, absolutely superb particularly the starter,  a tart of custard flavoured with woodruff and small peas and garnished with flowers.

Lovely evening and as we walked back to our room the sound of oyster catchers and curlews filled the night air.  Bliss to be back.
