Shetland Day 5

We have seen so many beautiful birds today. My main is an Arctic Tern on a fence post guarding two babies below (one in extra 1). Extra 2 has a Common Tern. Extra 3 a Lapwing.

After a very early night last night, we were up and out early for another busy day. We had leisurely drive up to the North West of the mainland then a walk on Stenness Beach, sadly it has the most plastic pollution I think I have ever seen on a beach, all washed in on the tide. Then on to Eshaness lighthouse which was shrouded in fog. Lunch at Frankie’s Fish & Chips in Brae followed by a leisurely drive back to Lerwick where the sun was out again along with lots of cruise ship guests so we got back in the car and headed down to RSPB Loch Spiggie to watch the terns and then walked across to sit on the beautiful sandy beach at Scousborough Sands in the late afternoon sun.
