Be careful …

… for what you wish for

Yesterday or earlier, I said I wished we were staying longer in Shetland … well we are. The fog stopped all flights out today so after six hours in Sumburgh Airport, we are staying the night at The Lerwick Hotel and are booked on to a flight to Inverness at lunchtime tomorrow. This will then be followed by a taxi drive from Inverness to Glasgow, no wonder Loganair flights are so expensive, they have to spend huge amounts recompensing people when the weather is bad. No fault of their’s of course. 
We left our accommodation early this morning to drive to Sumburgh Head ahead of the Viking Cruise buses. At first we saw no Puffins and I was very disappointed but the beautiful Shetland wren in my main, with freshly caught grub, made up for this. Then, as I was hunting for my glasses that I had dropped, someone pointed out the Puffins were in an area that I hadn’t seen. Lots of photos ensued. They are not my favourite sea birds but are stunning!
