Basillico

I was inspired to take this shot after seeing a blip from one of my blipfriends yesterday.

Several weeks ago, I bought some basil at the supermarket in town.  It wasn't a growing pot, just a pack of basil stalks.  I didn't need all of it and had a couple of stalks left over, so put them into a glass of water to try and keep them fresh.  After a few days, I noticed some tiny roots growing at the bottom of the stalks.

I left them for a while for the roots to grow a bit longer and then planted them out into a pot in the garden.  The pot is in a very sheltered position and I've been careful to water it through the recent hot weather but I'm really impressed to see how my couple of supermarket stalks have grown into quite a bush.  You have to bear in mind here that my gardening skills are in pruning and cutting things back, not growing them in the first place!

I think I can feel some pesto coming on shortly.
