MYO 25 years concert
Parkrun First-Timers Welcome and then ran round with Cno2. First run since the operation so we took it easy. Nevertheless ran the entire route. So lovely to see so many friendly faces! G's work friend ran it and met us for coffee, and shared news of his new house on the Shotley peninsula. We must meet him there some time.
Later we watched the MYO concert in the Town Hall. A fabulous evening of music including The Children's March and Pier Gint, with a Madness melody to finish. Lots of catching up, then farewells before walking home and reminiscing about the 'old days' when MYO was a Friday night routine. Cno1 and I separately told a tale of first meeting with the founder, Norman, in the music shop at the back of Morrisons. My dad was buying Cno1 her first flute; (the first step on her Grade 8 path), and Norman was there to advise. He invited Cno1 to join the new MYO once she could play 3 notes ... now, 24 years later the kind invitation was vividly remembered. We felt so lucky to have been part of it.
A thoroughly enjoyable day.
