Sally Mair - Loving life

Cherry Ripe....

Or not.
Having checked the website yesterday I headed to Craigie's to pick some of their wonderful cherries - only to find that the cherry area was closed today. I protested and they offered that as some would be being picked by staff later in the day, for sale elsewhere, they would keep a kg for me and phone when they were ready for collection.
So as not to have wasted the trip I decided to pick some strawberries and raspberries, I must have been having a brainstorm I've got raspberries in the garden! Still the Craigie's berries are far superior. In no time at all I had two kg of rasps and one of straws.
I'm the process of picking the raspberries I was attacked by the most vicious nettles (oops fixed the typo that said beetles!) I have ever met. It's after 11pm , twelve hours later, and my arm is still stinging. I've tried bicarb, antihistamine, dock leaves(of course) and nothing has eased it. Katy says I should have tried hydrocortisone, I might have had I had any.
When I got home I made most of the raspberries into jam, We've only eaten the scrapings but it tastes wonderfully sharp, summer in a jar.
Katy and Isobel are staying over tonight as Katy is on call again. Eilidh is at SU camp, so I'll take Isobel down to the Holiday Club at their school tomorrow. It really is a very good one, the staff there have looked after them both so well for the last seven years, both in term as after school club and during holiday time too.
Oh, and no-one phoned about the cherries...:-(
My blip is a speckled wood and a red admiral, both taken at Craigie this morning, some of the inaccessible cherries taunting me from behind their nets and the raspberry jam ready for labelling.
