Pole Pigeon

This wood pigeon was enjoying the early morning sunshine but it was already very hot.

I went into town to the bank. Tempers were fraying. A man wanted to withdraw £2,000 but wasn't allowed to until the bank had done some checks.  He kept saying, It's like Christmas Day in the workhouse.

I finished writing a letter to the solicitor and took it with some paperwork he had asked for to his office in Goffs Oak. I didn't want to leave Mish alone again so took her with me in the van. It was horribly hot, the van has no air-con and for some reason seems to blow hot air.

Too hot for bug hunting or chasing butterflies this afternoon, 30.5 degrees on the thermometer indoors.

Unusually, I took the camera on our after dinner walk round the garden. A very busy bee was enjoying the knapweed flowers. Leafcutter bees aren't easy to photograph as they shake their abdomens constantly and flit very quickly from flower to flower. It was after eight when I took the shot so it's not great but it can just be seen how these bees collect pollen on the special brushes on the underside of their abdomens. (Extras)
