Monday: Progress?

When I first moved here, I bemoaned mentioned the fact that it was really difficult to remember street names as they are hardly trip off the tongue.  Progress?  Honestly?  Not so much............

I have had a bit of a cricky stiffy neck the last few days.  I must have slept funny or something.  Anyway, I have resorted to a hot water bottle which would be OK, if it weren't for outdoor temperatures of 30 degrees plus.  If I do pass out from heat stroke, though, at least I will do so with a floppy neck so all is not lost!

My colleague, Aljosa, is really intent on widening his English vocabulary at the moment.  Everyday, he comes to work with a new list of words which we then try and incorporate.  Today, our conversation has been littered with the following: jingoistic, ennui, timorous, piquancy, dull stupor to name but a few........after a day in the office 'dull stupor' turned out to be the easiest to incorporate.........If you are curious about his choice of words, they are from the book that he is currently reading (Dostoyevsky.......).
