Gone fishin’ …

… on the Royal Military Canal at West Hythe. He was there when we rolled up at Unit 1 around mid day for a coffee. He was there at gone 5 when we lurched in for a pint of Hopfuzz IPA several hours later.

In between times we largely retraced our steps from Wednesday. Walking from Dymchurch to New Romney and back along the seawall. Only this time I managed a swim along with most of south east England who were enjoying the cooler air of the coast.

As the tide was in there was no sandy beach meaning everyone who was not in the water were arranged in tightly packed camps along the seawall. All equipped with a vast range of accoutrements, food, drink, toys, dogs, barbecues, tables, popup tents… a carnival atmosphere was in the air.

I thought you’d like yesterday’s iconic terrier and Victorian set at Cranbrook Road.

The crowd soon thinned out with the exception of small outposts near car parking areas. A walk we’ve done many times. Plenty of steps but no flights climbed.
