Workshop
I got into Edinburgh in plenty of time for the second day of our workshop, so I diverted myself briefly to take a couple of Turf zones. However, I met a friend and chatting meant that I was only just in time to help setting up at the venue. We had a random collection of talks, of varying quality, but everyone was supported. It was great to hear how HiGHS is being used to optimize security lane planning at Edinburgh Airport, and will be used for plane-gate allocation in due course. My ex PhD student was touchingly emotional when talking about his years working with me, acknowledging my 60th.
After I closed the show with a brief talk and encouragement to attend next year, many if us moved on to the Pear Tree for drinks, and planning for more downtime tomorrow.
