A visit to my homeland

A key destination to visit in Crickhowell is the  Cric Visitors centre and Art Gallery.This charity, run by a team of volunteers it is of a standard rarely seen in a small town of this size, and I am lucky this year to be here while  their annual Open exhibition is on.

Selecting winners for the various categories is challenging, but Suzette Patten (pictured), who curated the exhibition, has done an outstanding job reviewing over 400 entries.

Sign of the times. The Bear hotel in Crickhowell has an international staff from eight countries including Ukraine, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico and India. Without these foreign workers it would be impossible to run the place.
I got talking to the young Indonesian waitress this morning and discovered that her children, attending the local school are learning Welsh.

Unfortunately, Welsh was not included in the curriculum during my school years.
