Succulents
We had another terribly lazy day; I did anyway. It is 100°F outside (at 3:15 pm) although it feels like 110°F. I checked my phone around 6:00 am, before getting out of bed. Lauren had texted that they took Isla to the ER last night around midnight. She was having trouble breathing, had a fever and had been coughing a lot. She would not eat or drink, a definite sign that she was ill. The doc on duty said she has symptoms for pneumonia and still has an ear infection so they prescribed more antibiotics and sent her home around 8:00 this morning. We are really worried about that little girl. She is chronically ill. I worry that because she sees doctors at several locations, no one has studied her complete medical history to be able to really understand her situation. It is hard being a non-interfering great grandmother…. And I am not always. Hubby was honor guard at a brother Knight’s funeral this morning. He left soon after breakfast. He picked up Brooklyn after the burial and took her home since he was close to her friend’s home. Then he picked up meds. I decided to sweat it out and have breakfast on the porch. But it was impossible to stay out there for prayers/reading e-mail. This hanging basket is within sight of my rocking chair. I looked for butterflies - they must be in the cooler woodlands. Anyway, I really love the colors in my pot of portulaca and purslane this year. Hubby has worn his favorite Tommy Bahama summer shirt until it is threadbare. I have searched on line for three days trying to find a suitable replacement. He prefers subtle to brightly colored aloha shirts. I finally ordered one along with a few more gifts for his upcoming birthday. They have free returns if he isn’t happy with it. And I read more about the harmful American diet. We are trying to eat healthier. Just hope I didn’t wait too long to take it more seriously. We live such fast paced lives, always have. “Bad food” is so much easier. I always include green vegetables, fruit and smaller portions of meat in our meal plan and thought that was enough. Wrong. Our worst intake is the butter, Italian bread, ice cream and other desserts. Those are gone now. And that has been my lazy day. Hubby is cutting grass in this heat. He thinks it will rain tomorrow and we leave early Friday. We are ready except for shopping and loading the camper. We’ll do that Friday morning after this heat wave moves out. Wishing you moderate temps in your part of the world. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “To be a flower, is a profound responsibility." – Emily Dickinson
