Col De Rousset
An incredibly scenic and beautiful road climbs out of Die over the Col de Rousset at 1254 metres in the Vercors region. Unfortunately we drove past the best viewing point and it was tricky to access from the opposite direction so this is a snap out of the window as we drove up. The Vercors Plateau was defended by French resistance fighters during WW2, but they were overcome by enormous numbers of German troops and were massacred.
Seems to me an awful lot of massacring has gone on throughout history.
Anyway we’re now at a lovely peaceful campsite at Thônes near Annecy recommended by our daughter. She chose a good un!
