La Blanche 2953m

Today’s walk was chosen as the big outing of the week. It proved to be so.

A long hot slog from Alpine meadows to rocky desolation on the summit ridge. We carefully negotiated a bowl of very loose rock following reclusive cairns before a final climb up a snowy apron to the summit. All the while watched by a herd of goats laughing at us.

After pics we descended via the perfect corrie lochan and then through a grassy meadow with barking Marmottes. Eventually reached the Belvedere des trois refuges to commit more pixels to memory card.
