Connecting Corbetts
Time for some more Corbetts on my quest to finish before I can’t climb a hill/there’s no petrol left/they’ve been covered by turbines/hydro schemes*
Drove to the east end of Loch Arkaig and dumped the bike in a bush then drove to the north end of Loch Lochy (so good they named it twice) to head onto the bracken covered hill.
Disturbed a slow worm, some frogs and a lizard on the ascent of Ben Tee. Dropped steeply off the NW shoulder and then traipsed across tussocky desolation to eventually climb to the 2nd peak of Meall na h-Eilde. Good views back where I’d been. This section was the connection I’d made on the map, very contrived but required for the bagger.
Next over the high ground to the trig point summit at Geal Charn before dropping south to retrieve the bush bike and heading back to the car along the popular Great Glen Way.
On the drive home at Dalwhinnie the A9 was closed. Waited for 30mins - it was still closed. The footie started on the radio at the same time as making the decision to drive home VIA Braemar - only 180miles, making 400 for the day. Next hill will be by public transport.
Picture shows the Munros of Meall na Teanga and Sron a Choire Garbh from descent off 3rd peak
