Never eat yellow snow
That’s what they told me when I was a child.
We parked at the road end above Ailefroide and entered proper mountain territory. Up to the Glacier Noir and teetered along the precipitous lateral moraine to 2500m.
This place is special, out of a school geography textbook, my jaw was agape at the views all around. I loved it.
We descended the way we’d come but paused to watch Marmottes scamper through the rocks on the side of the moraine.
The picture shows yours truly crossing some old snow to the edge of the moraine. Taken by AB#2.
