Common Spotted Orchid
Dactylorhiza fuchsii
For the first time the wildflower 'lawn' is sporting an orchid. I know it's not that unusual but I'm very pleased that this lovely flower has made its way into the garden. Thanks again to ApolloFly and Nicoiseannie for the wildflower challenge.
We had a good time yesterday with birthday cake and lots of other tasty food. This included strawberries and raspberries from our son's garden. It was good to see most of the gang there.
I have an unexpectedly free morning as I was expecting an extra yoga session but my teacher has a horrible cold so has rescheduled. Not to worry, I have my usual class this evening.
Very pleasingly I saw a baby bullfinch in the garden earlier, the courgette plants are in flower and the first cosmos bud has opened.
It's so windy again. I feel sorry for the houseplants and have had to take them off the theatre because they're just going to blow over.
Schools finish this week and, true to form, it looks as if the weather is going to be on the cool and wet side at least for the start of the summer holiday.
