Day at a Time

It's party day and we're cake-ready! The girls' mum is kindly baking so all I have to do is get the cake forks and spoons out of their boxes and provide the candles. The combined ages of the June birthday people would involve far too many flames so they can have one candle each and two for absent friends.

The tray cloth is one of Jan's beautiful linens which she very generously gave me as a gift when we met in Edinburgh. What a treasure.

I am cautiously optimistic about the weather. I'm going to get the garden cushions out in the hope that we can spend time outside. People will start to arrive from 12:00 and we will eat in the early afternoon. The cake will be cut later in the day.

I feel fortunate to be able to gather my gang together and I'm looking forward to the party.
