Saturday continued
After a rest at home for a couple of hours we all headed off to Birmingham for a special event. It is the 125th anniversary of the University of Birmingham. R has been a student here for a number of years having done a masters, then a doctorate and is now doing another masters. The fact that so much can be done on line these days it allows students to have a full time job and study if they wish.
There was an outdoor concert in the grounds, all 5,000 guests turned up with their chairs, picnic baskets and brollies. The weather was beautiful, a touch on the warm side, but an occasional breeze made it pleasant.
We got there just after 5pm, a 2 hr trip, had our picnic and wine, and watch the area gradually fill up. Fascinating to see the generations of families collecting, all ages from small babies to the elderly. I haven’t been to one of these for years and loved all the fashions on display, especially in this warm weather.
The Birmingham Philharmonic were performing and a number of other groups and individuals. It very much reflected the variety and versatility of Brum. We got up and danced a bit as we were close to one of the tarmaced areas. I made pals with a young man with his family sitting by us, he was all of 10 months old and a poppet.
It finished at 10pm and due to sensible parking we didn’t get delayed and we home by just after midnight.
Sunday …. I’m shattered today. Not much done except collecting Amber from kennels at teatime. There has been a break in the weather and we have had rain showers at times.
