Shining

I slept well on a comfortable grassy bed. So nice to be able to feel the gentle breeze on my face. As is usual when I bivvy, I woke up a few times during the night, but only briefly. Enough to see the waning crescent moon at half past two, and the sunrise around 4. I finally woke at 6 and the sun was already warm and quite high in the sky. After sitting awhile to admire the view, I ambled home (3.5 miles). Saw this beautiful cottongrass on my way.

I haven’t done a lot today - 2 barrows of logs, picked strawberries, read my book, tidied a cupboard and my desk. It rained heavily at about 2pm but the sun is shining again now. We will have a simple tea, I think, and an early night.
