Highland cows sheltering on Minchinhampton Common
No, I haven't gone on safari and discovered a lone tree in the savannah. It is just two miles up the hill from home, on Minchinhampton Common, and summer is here.
It wasn't only cows sheltering, as you can see by the birds flying up into the tree at the top left. These were starlings that like to follow the cattle, like cattle egrets do. They seem to have a harmonious relationship pecking away at the flies that surround the animals. The cows go walkabout and the starlings fly after them, although I haven't observed them standing on their backs yet.
