Making art- the old and the new
Ahead of a research project at Stirling University on older people using digital technology to create art I decided to start by using AI - see main image- "A Garden for Roses".
I thought I would learn how to craft the perfect prompt. I was in for a shock. We would actually be required to draw…..
Sungkyung Kim, a distinguished curator from Blume museum, now relocated to Scotland gave us an inspiring introduction to the work of Grandma Moses who began painting at the age of 75, exhibited internationally into her 90s, and passed away at 101. Her work sold for thousands of dollars.
You are never too old to take up art, said the young enthusiastic team from Stirling university.
For our first task, we received coloured paper, scissors, and a glue stick. Make some work we were told. We had 40 minutes for this task.
Finally we got to play with new iPads preloaded with Procreate, a software I had never tried before. After some excellent tuition under the guidance of Sungkyung Kim and her team, we all produced some work ( see extra for my effort).
The results of the three workshops, excluding the one I will miss due to holidays, will be exhibited at Stirling University.
