RHS Bridgewater
We’ve had a lovely day out at RHS Bridgewater in Salford.
We had a purpose for going but mainly we just wanted to revisit after our first visit two years ago. We also took my friend who hasn’t been before.
We had a coffee first in the main entrance building and bought some sandwiches to take with us into the garden. A tour around the walled garden with some lovely varied plantings before sitting in the Bee and Butterfly garden where we got a cold drink from the Shepherds Hut to have with our picnic. We walked back through the Paradise Garden with it’s water features before a walk through the woods to the Ellesmere Lake. It was in this area the Ellesmere family had Worsley New Hall in the 19th century which is no longer in existence.
Lastly we walked down through the Chinese Streamside Garden which is the area which has changed most since our first visit.
This very pretty area of Astillbes and Candelabra Primroses on damp ground around the Pagoda just had to be my blip. Delightful. Chris took a picture of my friend and I here too - extra.
Back then to the garden centre to look for a plant, preferably a rose. We had received a gift voucher for our Golden Wedding back in March to use at the RHS. I didn’t want to buy on line so we came today to look in the shop. They had several ‘Golden’ roses which were very nice but I didn’t really want anything too yellow. So it came down to a choice between ‘Desdemona’ a pink - white rose or ‘The Churchill Rose’ a soft yellow - cream rose and that one won - extra 2.
A lovely and successful day out. A perfect day really to visit if a little hot at times. Not really much further than travelling to RHS Harlow Carr at Harrogate but sadly a much less pleasant journey heading over towards Manchester on the busy M62!
Thank you again Ron for the lovely gift I hope we keep it well
Although we’re not quite there yet I thought this would be good for wide Wednesday Summer Solstice.
I’ll add a Flickr album link if you want to see more
