The Bridges
A day out on the water with J_S – as it was high water at the start and end of the day meaning we’d be unable to go into any harbours, we thought we’d sail up under the bridges and anchor up for lunch. Jeepers creepers it got a bit blowy on the way up. And of course it was against the tide. Did we get some practice in at tacking? And reefing on the hoof? We certainly did. I lost count of the number of tacks we needed.
Eventually though, we got that anchor dropped - the first use of the Rocna, and J_S got his carefully prepared lunch served up. He’s a dab hand with the bulgar wheat, that guy. No quinoa this time though.
And then we blew back, once more against the tide, the incoming tide this time. The sun came out, the wind became very light, and so we pulled out the full canvas. And then then blimey, did the wind strengthen or what? J_S may be running his 10k in 50 minutes, but this was proper exercise.
