LagoaDoFogo

The forecast for today was excellent, so we got up earlier than we might, and decided to go for a hike. We took a bus east to a village, where we walked inland, up a steep narrow road through farmland to a roadhead. There we joined a dirt track, climbing up through luscious green vegetation, until we reached an irrigation canal. We followed this (see extra) until the final climb to Lagoa do Fogo. 

We tried to climb from there to a summit that would have given great views looking down on the lake, but we were soon in thick vegetation, so we turned round and followed a track around part of the caldera, until it dropped back to our starting point. 

After refuelling on a plate of chips, we took the bus back to Ponta Delgada, where we'll soon be eating with И, developer F and his girlfriend.
