Father’s Day
Father’s Day has always been rather low-key in our house. Both of us had fathers who saw the whole thing as being very commercialised - Mother’s Day having its roots in Mothering Sunday was acceptable. G’s lucky to get a text from the boys to wish him Happy Father’s Day - and that’s just how he likes it (or at least that’s what he says).
This year is different, as Solveig has invited us over to Meols for Father’s Day lunch. G has a lovely card from Lili, thanking him for all the fun she has with him (that child’s writing is amazing!) and a present of some whisky chocolates.
We have a delicious meal (courtesy of M&S of course) with a pavlova made by me brought from home in its deconstructed form and decorated with strawberries from our garden which have been particularly successful this year.
Disappointingly, it’s too cold to eat outside despite the sunshine, but we do manage some photo in the garden to commemorate the occasion! Lili isn’t really in the mood for being held, but comes into her own when left to play!
My main is a conventional shot of Daddy, Taid and Lili in the garden, but I’m not sure whether I prefer the extra of Taid waiting for a goodbye kiss! And there’s also a Lili collage!
