A day in the life

By Shelling

Mid of summer

Another gorgeous day, celebrated by a couple of hours cutting paths through the very long grass in my meadow. The grass is waste high which makes it hard both for me and the mower that isn't made for this kind of challenge. I could use the scythe but all I want at this moment are paths, not to cut the whole field completely. That would be a three day job and I'm not up to that right now.

I've got a gig in a week so I better start playing my guitar again and use my voice for singing instead of snoring. I play for ruffly an hour so I need about fifteeen songs to choose from, mostly summer tunes in Swedish and some sing-alongs. Shouldn't be too difficult but so much time pass between these kind of gigs that I feel like a beginner each time. It'll be ok though.

My walk brought me to this field containing the three most iconic flowers of the Swedish summer, Poppies and Cornflowers, the pink one is a mutation of the Cornflower I think. These flowers are used to bind garlands to wear around your head, particularly next Friday, when we celebrate the, next to Christmas, most significant holiday of Sweden; Midsummers eve, in celebration of the summer solstice. More on that on Friday I guess
