Friday the thirteenth
has brought us rain - we can feel
lucky to have it

I was awake at 4 so I got up to take a read on the weather. Gratefully, it has cooled and we've had rain overnight. It's made puddles everywhere.
At 5:30, with enough light to see properly, I backed the car out of the garage to find four chukars in the cul de sac. They scattered immediately, but I managed to catch one in my neighbour's driveway.
I drove down the hill and made the left turn to Westmount. I like to have a look at the North Thompson River and the crossings.
All is in grey tones this morning. I found the rail line to be strangely quiet, but the Halston Bridge for vehicles was loud with the swish of wet lanes.
I walked the short distance under the rail line on the Rivers Trail. This portion of the trail is asphalt which has been distorted by the tree roots underneath. The trail now has pockets that collect the rain. I gazed into one large water hazard to see the trees reflected from above.
I need to be at the office late this morning. I'm hoping to have some portion of the day to myself.
