Poppy

Still coughing today, but as I don’t think I’m contagious any more I went to St Luke’s and then for coffee afterwards. The blipped poppy has, I think, self-seeded and is growing in front of a neighbour’s garden wall further up the road.

At home, I struggled to install Microsoft Teams on my ten-year-old and little-used laptop. I succeeded eventually in downloading a free version, but in fact I may not have needed to do this anyway. I was supposed to have a routine annual video call with a financial advisor from the company which does my stocks & shares ISA investments, and have noticed that the email has a link to click on to connect via the web browser. Anyway, the advisor called with 45 minutes to go to say she was having computer issues and had had to call her IT Support, so we’ve postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Ironic when you think about it! Sadly I don’t have IT Support to call any more since retiring. I accidentally rediscovered my Garmin SatNav software whilst blundering around on the laptop, and fetched the actual device and plugged it in for a lengthy update of the maps etc. So happily firing it up this afternoon was not an entire waste of time.

Just had a text to say that my old pine dining table and chairs are scheduled for collection tomorrow between 7.45am and 8.30am. Good to get it out of the way first thing, but I’m really not an early bird so I did groan when I saw the time slot! The dining set has been with me for over 40 years - Mum and Dad bought it as a flat-warming gift in 1983 - so it’s another bit of the past to say goodbye to. However I’m looking forward to using the new and much more elegant rattan and glass set which arrived on Monday.
