As the rain begins...

I took this shot just before the rain began in earnest this morning. As I look out of the window now, most of the poppies are in bits and the sky slow and grey... no doubt more poppies will flower tomorrow.

Earlier, I cycled down to the nature reserve to induct a new butterfly survey volunteer into the site. I didn't expect to see anything in the deteriorating conditions but still we saw several marbled whites and meadow browns.

The rain is coming down massively. We certainly need it, but perhaps not all at once? I suspect it's an indoors day today... a bit of bass, a bit of telly, a bit of a snooze...
