Melbury Beacon
We had an outing to Melbury Beacon today. This is a chalk down land owned and managed by the National Trust. It’s in very good condition, full of wildflowers and more butterflies than we have seen all year. The most remarkable was the Adonis Blue. There were too many to count, both males and females, and perching very obligingly on the paths, with their wings spread! Like little bits of fallen sky.
Also Marbled White, Grizzled Skipper, Small Heath…
We had supper sitting outside in the warm sunshine, just like being on holiday!
