Reels

We had planned to go to Carlisle today, as there is an exhibition I want to see and things G wants to do. However, rain and having to negotiate horses, vehicles etc whichever way we try to leave the village, encouraged us to leave the visit until later.

So it was continuing with my room sorting and here is the drawer collection of sewing threads I mentioned yesterday. These are all polyester threads and would have been used for machine sewing - garments, furnishings etc. I would have used cotton threads in patchwork and quilting and I have separated these out as they are what I would use now.

Interesting to think that every reel here was purchased for a particular project - I wonder what all those projects were. I realised that some colours, the pinks and reds and purples, would have been used when I was making bags, toys etc. for little girls.

Why bother going to the campsite a few yards away when you can just set up camp on the village green. Of course! You would have to pay to be there and anyway being a few steps away from the pub has its advantages! And you can just leave the horses to graze on the other part of the green.

Tomorrow they are allowed onto the Fair Field and, as long as we don’t try to go anywhere near Appleby, we can get about again.
