Stars and Stripes Forever

In which a little green worm takes the measure of our flag.

The flag was on a t-shirt worn by my husband; the shirt says New Jersey USA. Why, yes, I DID buy it for him, on one of my Atlantic City trips with big sister Barb.

My husband and I did yard work all morning. There had been a big storm the night before that took place just after I went to bed - around midnight to one a.m. I slept through it.

The storm brought down a bunch of sticks and leaves in the yard. If you are a homeowner, and you have trees, get used to the game of "pick-up sticks"!!!! We play it OFTEN.

After I took these photos of the worm running across the flag, my husband captured the little green worm and released it, unharmed, into the rhododendron bushes.

I think the only appropriate soundtrack for this image of a tiny green worm sprinting across the stripes of the American flag, reaching for the stars, is this song: Bruce Springsteen, with Born to Run.
