Barcelona
It was very hot and stuffy last night so I didn’t sleep well. The pizza and cocktails probably didn’t help.
We finished packing up the car this morning, had breakfast at a local café, waved off son no 1 and his partner on their taxi to the airport and then set off for Barcelona. It took us a while to find a car park next to son no 1’s flat (turned out there was one right next door which he hadn’t spotted) but we eventually got parked and we filled up any remaining space in the car with his suitcases and books. We’re packed to the absolute gunnels now! We had lunch together (great little Italian) and a walk around his area of Barcelona (Gràcia). His flat is a pretty basic student flat but it’s round the corner from the Sagrada Familia and his living room has a view of the crown at the top of the tower.
We said our goodbyes to him (he’s on a deadline to submit the first draft of his thesis) and drove out to our Airbnb in Monistrol de Montserrat. It’s inland, so even hotter here than it’s been on the coast! Our host (Mari Luz) seems very friendly and welcoming and the flat has good views up to the mountains.
