Down among the grasses
I had another wonderful few hours in the butterfly reserve today. On the butterfly front the big news was the number of skippers suddenly making themselves very visible. There were also beetles buzzing about - small but as soon as you started looking closely they were there in quantity. However, my favourite sighting (and isn't it funny the way you instantly know that this is what you'll blip today?) was this lovely little moth resting on a grass stalk. I know nothing about moths apart from the two books I read about them last summer, so you won't be surprised to know I can't name this one. It's a longhorn moth, something like nemophora degeerella but not quite. Sorry I can't be more explicit..
UPDATE: If you want to know more see Mother Shipton's comment below. The moth is Albonia geoffrella..
Two more sightings of note. I saw my first painted lady butterfly and my first orchid of the year.
In extras is a shot of the new moon. Yes, of course this was taken last night (apologies) but I couldn't resist having it in my journal.
Okay, that's me - and that's also the week done and gone. Have a great weekend, lovely blipfriends xx
