Where to go on a
grey morning? Riverside Park
seems to be calling
~carliewired
I was wandering in the kitchen before 5 but one look at the sky made me go back to bed. Photographs on a grey day are disappointing, at best. I woke again at 7:30 rather disgusted that I was wasting a morning. I was in Riverside Park by 8.
I parked by the tennis courts on the west side of the park. The middle of the park by the pier is still under construction and fenced off for the most part. Today there was a dump truck coming in and out.
My cranky feet said no walking up the Rivers Trail so I walked along the riverbank to get my shots of the Overlander Bridge and my mountains. I found a path down to the shoreline and found a pair of Canada geese cruising by the shore. My challenge was getting back up the path onto the grass. Birkenstocks are not good for climbing!
I found the south shore marmots perched on their 'castle', the Celtic Stones. These marmots are a bit braver than their north shore counterparts. One came across the grass to me, no doubt hoping for something to be offered. I follow the by-law that states we are not to feed the wildlife.
I managed to catch one little squirrel sitting on a tree stump. He paused just long enough for me to get his portrait.
I was home with my breakfast before 9. I managed to miss the worst of morning traffic.
I have some paperwork this morning, then I'm off to an art show and sale after lunch.
