Our 42nd wedding anniversary today and, rather than exchange presents, we treated ourselves to a night out at the theatre.
This is - I think - the fourth time we have seen the musical “Mary Poppins” and it was definitely the best I’ve seen.
The energy coming off all the cast was incredible - how on earth they maintain those levels for over two and a half hours is a mystery to me - I was knackered after a one hour PT session this morning. And it seems I’d managed to pick the right seats as, at the end, Mary Poppins flew off the stage and right over our heads before disappearing into the roof. She must have then run like hell to get down from there, change costume and appear back on stage for the bows. And then do a full on dance routine for the encore!
The weather has been gorgeous, we had a lovely meal before the show and we celebrated another year of marriage watching a wonderful show. You could say that the whole day has been “practically perfect in every way”…
