Out to The Brewery tonight to see the stage on screen presentation of the 2024 National Theatre production of “The Importance of Being Earnest”. Starring Ncuti Gatwa (Dr Who) it was described as a 21st century makeover of the classic Oscar Wilde play.
Well, it was certainly that! But it was also very funny and extremely well acted by an excellent ensemble.
Shamefully, this is the first time I have seen the play in full. I know the story, and have seen bits of it on the telly, so it was great to actually see everything in context and in sequence.
A most enjoyable evening. Tomorrow we are off to Manchester for some proper live theatre…
