get off the train at 12, lunch, change clothes, hard at work pruning laurels and sweeping up hedge cuttings by 1pm - no messing with my parents! but then there are consolations, such as having my dad come in from the garden with a carrier bag of peas to be shelled and tho i have to help shell, i also get away with eating the odd handful raw from the pod - haven't had a chance to do that in years, i generally don't get to northumberland much in the summer these days. brings back memories...
