Cultures unite under the cherry blossom
Having lived in Scotland most of my life I had never heard of this informal multicultural event fifteen miles away in Dollar, a small town in the foothills of the Ochil mountains.
Here diverse groups, primarily from Asian communities, gather to enjoy the natural beauty of the cherry blossom trees lining the Dollar Burn, a tributary of the Devon river, running through the centre of the town. (see extra).
Families, including women in colourful saris and Muslim women in black, paddle in the river alongside children, while others relax with family picnics.
Some I spoke to said they come every year at cherry blossom time.
