Mooo
Grey has been the dominant colour for today, both in sight and in action. I have a gig for the elderly on Friday and has spent some time several days to organise a number of songs that I think would be suitable for this kind of audience. Gathering songs isn't the problem, the number is almost infinite, the problem is to learn how I can play and sing them and to set an order, to create some sort of pleasant time together. 30 minutes of music, then a coffee break and then 20 minutes of more music, that's the basic frame. That will have to be done by tomorrow.
The afternoon, and evening has been used for editing the recording we made yesterday, Johan and me. There's quite a lot of tidying up among files like that in order to make it sound good as a whole. As an example I could mention a detail that not many sound technicians have to deal with. I live in a quiet place with my closest neighbours, the cows, live their own life. A few of them has recently had calves, some of them would like to have calves and are apparently pissed off by that, or have even had a calf that died, so they mooo a lot. Not quietly but furiously and very loud. And very often. Some of all that can clearly be heard in the recording and has to be masked out, which takes a lot of extra time and isn't anything you can plan in advance and I can't do anything about it. It was pure luck we didn't record today, they have been very loud all the time and are still at it right now at eleven at night. My other neighbour, Lena, lives right next to the field and I wonder if she can sleep at all.
